MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — Police officers swarmed a man who hit a Miami Twp. police cruiser while it was parked, assisting firefighters at an apartment fire on Towson Boulevard on Christmas.
The driver side swiped an ambulance right before hit hit the cruiser, damaging the officer’s rear-axel, police said.
Cruiser camera footage shows police swarming the man’s vehicle after the crash.
The incident happened around 7:40 p.m. in the 8000 block of Towson.
Police said the man, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody and he started to resist. That’s when police used a Taser to help them get the man into handcuffs, according to police.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where police said he also assaulted staff there.
Police said they believe the man was driving under the influence and are awaiting a blood test.
Possible charges in the case also include resisting arrest and assault.
