CRUISER CAM: Toddler left in Dayton street discovered by Amazon driver

DAYTON — Cruiser camera footage obtained through a public records request shows Dayton Police arriving to find a toddler left in the street after being dropped off from a vehicle stolen minutes earlier.

The video show Amazon delivery driver Charles Rucker standing with the child after he found her.

“She was rubbing her eyes and was quiet. I guess she heard me coming,” said Rucker. "She looked up and saw me and reached her hand out and started crying. I got up to her and kneeled down and told her, “You’re going to be okay. I am not going to leave you.”'

A warrant has been issued for Derion Miliner, 19, of Dayton, who faces charges of felony kidnapping, abduction, grand theft and endangering a child, according to Dayton Municipal Court documents.

Miliner is accused of stealing a 2012 purple Kia Optima from a Marathon gas station while two-year-old Haleigh inside the car last month, according to a Dayton Municipal Court Affidavit.

Haleigh was asleep in a car seat in the back of the car.
