House a total loss after crews battle fire on West High Street in Springfield Sunday morning

SPRINGFIELD — A home is destroyed after a fire consumed the majority of the structure in the 800 block of West High Street around 6 a.m. Sunday.

A large portion of the fire was near the attic of an addition on the house making the fire difficult for fire crews to access, according to the Springfield Fire Department.

Investigators are still working to learn how exactly the fire started.

Everyone made it out of the home safely and no one was injured.
