Driver smashes into pole in Yellow Springs OVI crash

YELLOW SPRINGS — UPDATE @ 3:12 a.m.:
West Jackson Road was to be closed for a few hours, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol dispatchers, after a driver crashed into a pole and brought down power lines in the 2400 block of West Jackson Road in Yellow Springs.

According to troopers on scene, the driver was drunk when they struck the pole, and were not hurt in the crash.

Our crew reported that the car is flipped over and wires are down, with some hanging at head height.

INITIAL REPORT

Emergency crews responded after a person was reported trapped in a vehicle after it struck a pole in the 2400 block of West Jackson Road in Yellow Springs.

Initial reports said that the crash rolled the vehicle and knocked down a transformer and power lines, trapping the driver. Further reports added that crews contacted Ohio Edison to shut the power off, and that the driver was able to get out.
