Teen killed in Riverside pedestrian crash identified

RIVERSIDE — UPDATE @ 9:35 a.m. (Aug. 7): 

The victim of a fatal pedestrian crash on Harshman Road in Riverside has been identified as Hunter White, 17, of Huber Heights, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

White’s cause of death was determined to be from a blunt force injury and was ruled an accident, according to the coroner’s office.

UPDATE @4:52 a.m. (Aug. 6):

Crews have reopened the northbound lane of Harshman Road, officials said.

UPDATE @ 3:20 a.m: Riverside police say that a preliminary investigation reveals the victim is likely at-fault in a fatal pedestrian strike that occurred on Harshman Road early Monday morning.

Officials say the driver of a pick-up truck was traveling southbound on Harshman Road when the victim, who was not at a crosswalk, darted out in front of the truck. As a result, the pedestrian was struck by the truck.

The victim, only described as a male in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver is cooperating with officials and was not injured.

Drugs, alcohol, or speed are not believed to be factors in this incident, officials say.

A reconstructive team is on scene and will have Harshman Road between Beatrice Drive and Arrowrock Avenue shut down for the next hour.

The incident remains under investigation.
