Coronavirus: 7-Day test positivity rate remains at 4.1% Friday

MIAMI VALLEY — Friday’s data released from the Ohio Department of Health shows there were 2,003 new cases as the state’s positivity rate remained at 4.1%. It had remained at 4.3% for several days.

The number of new cases were above the 21-day average. In the last 24 hours. ODH reported 151 new hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, 49,154 people have started their vaccinations. As of Friday, 4,302,570 people or 36.81 percent of the state’s population, has received at least one vaccine dose, according to state data.

According to Friday’s ODH data, 1,050,112 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported since March 2020.

ODH data released Friday indicates 54,787 people have been hospitalized since the start of the pandemic. In the last 24 hours, 74 deaths were recorded. The total number of Ohioans who have died is 18,991. Death data was changed beginning Mar. 2 to show those who are Ohio residents who have died from COVID-19 and numbers will only be released twice a week.

According to Friday’s data, 991,725 people are presumed to have recovered from the virus.

Ohio has an estimated population of approximately 11.7 million, census records show.

There have been 11,451,192 people tested for the coronavirus in Ohio. A total of 59,854 health care workers have tested positive which is about 6 percent of the cases.
