Coronavirus: Dayton Correctional Institution has inmate test positive after prison placed in quarantine

DAYTON — An inmate at the Dayton Correctional Institution has tested positive for coronavirus, just a few days after a staff member also found out they had the virus.

The Dayton Correctional Institution has been in quarantine since employee at the facility reported testing positive for coronavirus last week, according to state data.

There are currently 836 inmates at the facility on Germantown Street that are in quarantine as a result of the positive test.

Dayton Correctional is an all-female facility, one of three such facilities in Ohio. It transitioned to housing all females in 2011.

The facility can hold up to 960 inmates, according to the state.
