Coronavirus: Both Miami Valley health care institutions asking for donations for staff

DAYTON — The two major hospital networks in the area, Kettering Health Network and Premier Health, are getting a lot of different kinds of donations and leaders at both are appreciative of the community support.

“We just continue to say thank you,” said Lainie Dean from Premier Health. “Their support has been what’s gotten us through these last few weeks.”

Inside the hospitals, doctors, nurses, and staff are hard at work keeping people safe, and leaders say they need help from the outside.

Leaders from both hospitals are asking for more personal protective equipment.

“We’re still asking for PPE, because as we think about getting things back and opening, there’s still going to be a need for people to protect themselves,” said Dean. “The virus isn’t going to go away.”

They also ask that those donating food should keep social distancing in mind.

“We’re trying to make sure that it’s individually packaged so that we can pass it out quickly to our caregivers.” explained John Weimer of Kettering Health Network.

This rule also applies for appreciation cards too.

“Being able to have those individual so we can pass them out versus passing the same one around to hundreds of employees," said Weimer.

Both groups are look for financial contributions.

“The internal clinical teams are just appreciative beyond anyone’s imagination," said Dean.

Both Kettering Health Network and Premier Health have websites set up with information on how you can help.
