Clearcreek Twp. officer injured in shooting discharged from rehab facility today, chief says

CLEARCREEK TWP. — A Clearcreek Township officer shot in the line of duty was discharged from a rehabilitation center today, Police Chief John Terrill confirmed Saturday morning.

Officer Eric Ney, a 14-year veteran of the force, was critically injured after being shot across the face July 12 while responding to a domestic violence incident in the 5900 block of State Route 48.

Ney was flown from the scene to Miami Valley Hospital. He was later transferred to the Rehabilitation Institute of Ohio to “undergo therapy and further assessment of his injuries,” Terrill said.

On Saturday morning, Terrill told News Center 7 that Ney is being discharged today and the police department will be outside waiting for him.

“He will begin his long road to recovery from home now,” Terrill said. Extensive therapy and numerous surgeries are in his future, Terrill said.
