Carson Robbins, a senior at Tippecanoe High School died over the weekend after battling the illness, a district spokesperson said in a social media post Monday.

Following the announcement of Robbins’ funeral arrangements the school district chose to close the schools due to “high number of staff requests” to take a day off to attend his funeral.

“Due to the high number of staff requests for a personal day on Friday to attend the funeral of THS senior Carson Robbins, and the inability to fill many positions with substitutes, Tipp City Schools will be closed on Friday, April 21st,” the district said in social media post Tuesday afternoon.

Robbins was described as a “strong, caring person with a huge smile and heart who had a positive impact on those around him.” Robbins played on the school’s football team and was also a member of the wrestling team.

“He was the life of the party, the biggest smile in the room. Not only did he ignite love but he ignited prayer, hope, faith and miracles to others,” his obituary reads.

His visitation will be held Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipp City. Funeral services will also be at the same church Friday at 11 a.m. Family members have asked attendees to wear Tipp City spirit clothing, sports jerseys, or casual attire to his services.
