Clark County Sheriff’s Office sifting through details of Horseshoe Sports Bar shooting

SPRINGFIELD — Clark County Sheriff’s Office investigators say they’re taking their time sifting through a mountain of evidence and witness statements from a weekend shooting at the Horseshoe Sports Bar.

The shooting sent two people to the hospital, although the sheriff’s office said they couldn’t elaborate with more details about the victims.

“We're putting in a large number of hours on this case to get it wrapped up quickly and correctly,” said Lt. Kristopher Shultz.

Shultz said a preliminary investigation shows that there was a fight inside the bar, located just off of E. National Road, that made its way outside and involved a “number of individuals.”

As of Monday evening, no one had been arrested or charged in the shooting, but Shultz said there was no immediate threat to the community’s safety and no need for the public to be on the lookout for any particular individuals.

Five deputies and five detectives from the sheriff’s office’s investigative unit responded to the bar just after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.

A call into the Clark County dispatch center from someone who lives nearby the bar described between five and 10 shots that were fired.

“They woke my roommate straight out of her sleep,” the caller says.

Shultz said part of the investigation includes piecing together every angle from the bar’s security cameras – both inside and outside – as well as every deputy’s body camera footage.

Shultz said sheriff’s office staff spent a total of about 12 hours investigating the shooting on Saturday, followed by another seven or eight hours on Sunday.

“We're trying to determine who was struck by what and what individuals were involved in which half of what altercation,” Shultz said.
