Centerville unveils plans to upgrade Stubbs Park

CENTERVILLE — The city of Centerville has announced the proposed expansion plans for Stubbs Park.

The park has been owned by the city of Centerville since the 1970′s. City officials feel it is time to give the park some much needed upgrades.

“It’s quite an aged park at this point and we wanted to bring more programming into Stubbs Park,” said Assistant City Planner Joey O’Brien.

Stubbs Park has been a staple for live music during the summer.

The city has plans for an $800,000 expansion of the parks, paid for by a state grant, which includes plans to:

  • Construct approximately 3,600 feet of paved trails to replace existing gravel footpaths
  • Redevelop the existing trail-head/amphitheater restroom facility
  • Redesign the trail-head/amphitheater parking lot
  • Install wayfinding signage throughout the park

Centerville is also applying for the Recreational Trails Fund Grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The potential money would go towards upgrades to the concession stand and the help pay to pave 3,600 feet of gravel trails throughout the park.

O’Brien said the goal of the expansion is “all about improving the quality” for those in the community and making the park more accessible for everyone.

The city hopes to begin construction either at the end of this year or early next year.
