The organization’s national relay starts in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and consists of five buses that travel 20,000 miles and cover the 48 continental states. Buses on each route meet during Memorial Day weekend in Dallas, Texas.

News Center 7 spoke with Pablo Yee, the bus driver for the Midwest route, on Wednesday. He was the organization was started in 2011 by two Navy SEALS to honor veterans and first responders.

“[We’re] trying to get people to just think about their veterans and first responders not just on Memorial Day, but the entire year,” Yee said.
