Care facility for people with developmental disabilities reports 74 COVID-19 cases this week

NEW PARIS, Preble County — Foundations, a facility that specializes in the care of children and adults with mild to profound developmental disabilities, reported 74 cases of coronavirus from its facility this week.

The facility on U.S. 40 in New Paris had 54 residents and 20 staff members test positive for the virus, according to Ohio Department of Health data.

According to its website, Foundations has 66 beds at the facility, which is licensed by the Department of Development Disabilities and receives oversight from ODH.

A spokeswoman for the facility declined to comment on the outbreak at the facility.

Children at the facility attend National Trail Local Schools, which reported three new student cases to the state this week.

Preble County is currently under the Red Level 3 category of the Ohio Health Advisory System.
