Car crash into pole closes Wilmington-Dayton Road near Sugarcreek MetroPark

UPDATE @ 8:06 a.m.:

Officials from Dayton Power & Light said crews are changing a pole, and the 23 customers without power in the area will likely have power restored by 10:30 to 11 a.m.

INITIAL REPORT: 

Portions of Wilmington-Dayton and Conference roads near Sugarcreek MetroPark are closed this morning as Dayton Power & Light workers repair the damage from a late-night crash.

According to Sugarcreek Twp. officials, at around 4 a.m. a car crashed into a telephone pole at the intersection of Wilmington-Dayton and Conference roads. This brought lines down onto trees and the road, prompting officials to close the road.

The driver, an adult male, was initially not at the scene, but was found shortly after and transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

Wilmington-Dayton Road is closed to the north at the park entrance,  and in the south at Centerville Road. Conference Road is closed starting at the MetroPark entrance.

The DP&L outage map shows an outage in the area of the Sugarcreek MetroPark affecting 23 customers that was reported at 4:52 a.m.

Officials are unsure when the roads or electricity will be restored. We have contacted DP&L for an estimate on how long until repairs are complete, and will update here when we receive a response.
