Campus alerted after UD student says she was sexually assaulted in campus parking lot

The University of Dayton Department of Public Safety notified the campus community Sunday after a female student reported she was sexually assaulted in a parking lot on campus.

Officers were called to the parking lot behind the Garden Apartments on East Stewart Street around 2:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving the report.

“Public safety dispatchers received an initial report that a male approached a female student from behind, called her by name, and then grabbed and physically assaulted her,” a notice sent to campus read.  “The male then pushed the female student to the ground and ran from the area.”

In a follow-up interview, the female student told officers that during the incident she was sexually assaulted.

UD Police said anyone with additional information or are aware of similar incidents are asked to contact them at 937-229-2121.
