Village officials ask Versailles residents to conserve water

VERSAILLES — A boil advisory issued for the Village of Versailles will stay in effect for 24 hours.

In a social media post, village officials said all water customers on the village’s water system were urged not to drink the water directly from tap without boiling it first.

The village said there has been no evidence that the water system is contaminated, but there is a possibility so the village issued the advisory as a precaution.

According the the village officials, the village’s water pressure began to drop before 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Personnel found a 10″ water main break on E. Water St. between East and Williamson streets. The break quickly drained down both water towers and the water plant clear well. The break has been repaired, but officials are asking residents to conserve water so the water system has time to recover.
