People stopped by the Centerville Police Department for the 26th annual Officer John P. Kalaman Memorial Blood Drive on West Spring Valley Drive.

Officer Kalaman and Washington Township firefighter Robert O’Toole died in 1998 when a car hit them while responding to a crash on Interstate 675 on January 12, 1998.

“We’ve made a promise to John and Paula Kalaman to always keep his memory alive,” sad John Davis, Pubic Information Officer of the Centerville Police Department. “We don’t ever want that to fade. We want everyone to know the sacrifice that they made.”

Since the first blood drive, people have donated more than 4,000 pints.
