Bicyclist struck by minivan in South Charleston, Clark County

An adult on a bicycle was taken to a hospital after he was hit by a minivan on Old Columbus-Cincinnati Road in South Charleston on Thursday afternoon.

He was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center suffering from injuries described as minor, said a trooper with the Springfield post, Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The preliminary investigation shows that the bicyclist apparently crossed in front of the minivan, which was headed east in the 12,000 block of Old Columbus-Cincinnati Road, the trooper said. But, he said, the investigation is continuing.

The driver of the minivan was not injured in the accident, which was dispatched about 5:15 p.m.
