Bengals visit Wright-Patterson Air Force Base; Spend time with Airmen, their families

DAYTON — Wright-Patterson Air Force Base airmen and their families got a special visit Friday.

They got to spend the day with some Cincinnati Bengals rookies and have a picnic with the team’s cheerleaders.

The rookies also hosted an athletic skill camp for 100 children of military parents.

The Bengals spent most of the day on base speaking with airmen and touring a C-17 located at the 445th Airlift Wing.

The players also got to meet the troops assigned to the Explosives Ordinance Disposal Team.

“Whether they are here or overseas ... just the amount of time they put into their jobs and what they do for all of us is really great,” Bengals rookie Justin Rigg said.

While the picnic and skills camp were fun, there was also a serious side to the special event.

The Bengals organization gained a better insight into the mission at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Major Tank Commander Eric Anderson told News Center 7 that events like this one are a great way to spend time with family.

Anderson said his time with family is often limited while he is deployed or has to travel.
