Back-to-school shoppers take advantage of tax-free weekend

Many people are taking advantage to stock up on school supplies as tax-free weekend kicks off.

All supplies less than $20 each and clothes less than $75 each qualify for the discount.

Jessica Wendt of Englewood was at a Meijer store early Friday morning to get some back-to-school shopping done for her kids.

“We wanted to get in and beat the crowd,” she said.

Wendt says most years she schedules this weekend exclusively for back-to-school shopping.

“It’s just nice to have a little bit of a break, all the expenses add up. We get help from the grandparents, but every little bit helps,” she said.

Tax-free weekend ends at midnight Sunday.
