Area animal shelter seeking donations to assist cat who police say was lit on fire

TIPP CITY — An area animal shelter continues to help out a cat seriously burned in a fire in Trotwood last month as it continues to recover.

Fotis, an approximately 1-year-old male cat, continues to do well at Care Center Dayton and is now eating and drinking on his own, according to Our Farm Sanctuary’s social media page.

“He seems to be in good spirits and the majority of his wounds are coming along nicely, aside from a couple of questionable areas on both rear legs,” Our Farm Sanctuary wrote on its Facebook Page. “His vet feels comfortable that Fotis can head down to the Veterinary Wellness Center and stay for his Wednesday and Friday treatments.”

Fotis may need seven to eight more weeks of treatment and if he is stable, he might be able to go to a good foster home.

In April, Kartsonis told News Center 7 that Fotis had been “doused in accelerant” before someone flicked a cigarette on him, lighting him on fire at a Trotwood apartment complex.

“He had burns from head to toe,” Kartsonis previously said.

Now, she said more wounds have “declared themselves.”

Our Farm Sanctuary is also asking for donations saying Fotis’ care has been expensive.
