WATCH: Body camera footage shows rescue of horse stuck in sinkhole

UPDATE @ 11:56 a.m. (Aug. 7):

Body camera footage obtained from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office shows firefighters and deputies rescuing a horse trapped in a sinkhole Sunday night.

“The citizens that live out in Spring Valley Twp. along with the first responders, the volunteers, fire department as well as the deputies just all came together, rescued an animal, put an end to a good weekend,” said Capt. Shawn Prall with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.

UPDATE @ 7:50 p.m. (Aug. 6):

The horse that was stuck inside a sinkhole Sunday evening is now out and free, according to Greene County dispatch.

It took crews about two hours to rescue the horse, and several medics were on scene to assist.

The horse was extracted around 7:15 p.m., according to initial scanner reports.

FIRST REPORT:

An animal rescue is currently on-going in Spring Valley Twp.

A horse is stuck in a sinkhole at 3821 Cornstalk Road, according to Greene County dispatch.

The incident occurred around 5:20 p.m., and a tanker was requested for rescue.
