All eyes on fiery Ohio Senate race between Tim Ryan, J.D. Vance

The Midterm Election is weeks away, and all eyes are on Ohio’s senate race.

National morning shows are buzzing about the JD Vance versus Tim Ryan race for Senate, especially after the two candidates faced off in their second debate.

The latest debate was also full of fireworks between the candidates with repeated exchanges of claims and counterclaims over what one or the other said or did.

The winner of this contest will fill Rob Portman’s seat, an outgoing Republican.

The Senate is evenly split with senators from each party, so each party is working hard to push their candidate over the top, statewide and locally.

“I have realized you can’t sit on the sidelines anymore, you have to get involved in community affairs, community politics, that is why I am here,” Dan Godale, a supporter of Vance said.

“I feel very strongly about what I believe in and I think it is worth working for,” Barb Bayliff, a supporter of Ryan said.

Political party volunteers say it seems obvious to them that democracy is a full-time job.

The local volunteers still think the advertising in debates is a good thing for voters to sift through and make informed decisions.

“Cant control the whole thing, there’s little pieces I can do, that’s what I try to focus on, what I can contribute,” Bayliff said.

“For people like me, sure I’ve been following the candidates for a long time but a lot of people don’t start paying attention until close to the election and it is probably helpful to watch the debates,” Godale said.

With three weeks to go until voting day, volunteers for Republic and Democratic candidates are working hard to convince you to see things their way. Voters have to do their own research.
