Motorcyclists gather in Xenia for 20th annual Blessing of the Bikes

XENIA — Hundreds of motorcyclists and their families will gather at Kil-Kare Raceway for the 20th annual Blessing of the Bikes Sunday morning in Xenia.

The event raises money for veterans and charities and tries to promote a positive image of motorcycling in the community.

Gates will open at 10:00 a.m. and all proceeds raised will go to the local charity Greenbucs.

GreeneBucs, a local chapter of Ambucs, provides therapeutic trikes to children and Armed Forces Veterans.

In addition to raising money for charity, the event also promotes driver safety and teaches other drivers what they can do to avoid collisions with riders.

The Blessing of the Bikes will be officiated by clergy from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., the Deacons will bless riders and passengers for a safe riding season.

Local musician Suzi Goedde will sing the National Anthem to open the event with live music by Road Bone.

Other highlights include vendors for food, motorcycle-related items, event T-shirts, bandanas, and more.
