2 ramps near Dayton airport to close today; detours planned

VANDALIA — Starting today, two ramps at U.S. 40 to Terminal Drive at the Dayton International Airport will close for several months as construction continues in the area.

U.S. 40 has been involved in an on-going improvement project and the project will cause the city to close the access ramp from southbound Terminal Drive to U.S. 40 and the ramp from U.S. 40 to northbound Terminal Drive.

The closures will be in place until Oct. 1.

“The detour will involve Concorde Drive, Freight Drive, Cargo Road, Boeing Drive and Terminal Drive. It will be clearly marked and is expected to add less than five minutes of travel time to or from the airport,” the city said.

Drivers who use Airport Access Road from I-70 will not be impacted.

The U.S. 40 project will be completed in a shortened time with the closures in place, according to the city. Currently, U.S. 40 is being widened with new traffic signals and modernized ramps being installed to create better traffic flow near the airport.
