Minster Swimming Pool experienced a mechanical issue involving one of its facility pumps, according to a village spokesperson.

Around 7:15, village workers went to the pool to make sure everything was good for the day, and they found the recirculation pump had failed overnight, according to Don Harrod, village administrator of Minster.

The chlorine pump continued to run.

When the recirculation pump kicked in, the chlorine slug got shot out into the pool; there were around 20 swim team members in the pool at the time.

As a precaution, 14 members of the high school swim team were taken to local hospitals for evaluation.
