11-year-old in custody after alleged shooting threat at East Dayton Christian School

RIVERSIDE — An 11-year-old is in custody after allegedly threatening to conduct a shooting at East Dayton Christian School.

According to a spokesperson for the Riverside Police Department, an investigation was initiated after a call from the superintendent.

The threat was made by a student from a school other than East Dayton Christian, the spokesperson said.

A suspect has been taken into custody, the spokesperson confirmed.

“This is another example of the school immediately reaching out for assistance and our police department quickly addressed the threat,” the spokesperson said. “Lastly, the vast majority of these cases we handle involve a threat with no true intention to carryout. Regardless we will continue to respond swiftly with zero tolerance.”

East Dayton Christian School is closed Monday due to the investigation, according to a social media post from the school.

Police have given the all clear for everyone to return to school Tuesday, the post said.
