1 taken into custody after driver flees from OVI checkpoint in Dayton, drives into field

DAYTON — A man was taken into custody Sunday night after a pursuit ended with him driving into a field and running from troopers.

Ohio State Highway Patrol begin pursuing a car that fled from a sobriety checkpoint on Gettysburg Avenue around 9:50 p.m.

The car eventually stopped after driving into a field in the area of Fairbanks and Crestmore Avenue, according to OSP.

The driver then left his car behind and ran away from the scene, OSP said.

The man was taken into custody by troopers shortly after.

We are working to learn the identity of the man who fled and the charges he faces.
