UPDATE: 1 wounded in Xenia shooting during confrontation inside home, police say

XENIA — UPDATED @ 9:45 p.m.: Xenia police have determined that the report that a person was wounded in a drive-by shooting outside a house in the 400 block of East Church Street was actually a shooting that occurred during a physical confrontation inside the residence.

“After speaking with multiple witnesses and examining the crime scene, we have determined that the shooting happened during a physical confrontation inside the residence” that sent 32-year-old Tercel Falson to a hospital, the Xenia Police Division said in a statement released moments ago.

Officers responded to the address on what was initially reported as an accidental shooting, the police division said. They found a victim, identified as Falson, inside the home suffering from a single gunshot wound to his abdomen.

The officers treated Falson until fire/medic units arrived and took him to Miami Valley Hospital.

“When officers began investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting, they received conflicting information,” according to the police division statement. “There was an initial report that Mr. Tercel’s injury was the result of a drive-by shooting. Further investigation revealed that this report was incorrect.”

The case will be presented to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for review once the investigation is concluded, according to the police division. The investigation is ongoing.

INITIAL REPORT

One person was taken to the hospital after a shooting in Xenia Wednesday afternoon.

Around 5 p.m. Xenia Police Department was alerted of reports of a shooting in the 400 block of East Church Street, according to initial reports.

Police on the scene confirmed that one man was taken to the hospital.

Video from the scene shows at least five cruisers on scene.

We are working to learn the condition of the person hurt and what led to the shooting.
