Officers and firefighters went to the 3400 block of Needmore Road at 4:38 a.m. to handle what was initially called out as a pedestrian strike, Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirmed.

During the preliminary investigation, officers found that a man struck his girlfriend “inside the vehicle,” bringing into question whether or not the incident was a pedestrian strike, dispatch said.

Furthermore, a silver Chevy Impala fled from the scene and was last seen heading towards Interstate 75. The vehicle was thought to have been driven by the man.

The woman was believed to have been injured during the incident as dispatch informed a person was transported to Miami Valley Hospital for further care.

The Dayton Police Department led the investigation into the incident. News Center 7 reached out for more information.
