1 forced from home after well pump house fire extends to house

A person has been forced from their home after a well pump house caught fire and extended to the house in Indiana.

Union City firefighters responded at 2:18 p.m. on Wednesday to the 1300 block of N 500 on reports of a structure, according to a social media post.

Initial responding crews were delayed due to a previous call to a school. They requested mutual aid.

Upon arrival, they found the well pump house full of flames and got destroyed. The fire extended into the home, the department said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire. Photos show the home suffered fire and water damage.

This was the fifth fire Union City has responded to in over three weeks, including four in 2025.
