CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — U.S. 68 was shut down in both directions in southern Champaign County Monday afternoon following a head-on crash between a car and semitrailer Monday afternoon.

The crash was reported near the intersection of U.S. 68 and Hickory Grove Road, south of Urbana, around 2:30 p.m.
The driver of the car was transported by CareFlight medical helicopter for treatment, dispatchers at the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol told News Center 7. Initial reports indicate the driver suffered serious injuries, however their condition was not known.
Additional details about the crash were not available.
