Man shot, killed while sitting in his car after dinner ID’d; Sheriff asks public for help

HARRISON TWP. — Deputies are working to learn why a man killed in a shooting Sunday night in Harrison Twp. was targeted by the shooter or if he was an innocent bystander.

The shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. on Forest Park Court near Riverside Drive.

Washington was taken to Grandview Medical Center where he died.

The two men were sitting in the car smoking after eating dinner at a local fast food restaurant, Streck said.

News Center 7 spoke to Washington’s friend who said there was no warning before a hail of bullets, apparently fired from another car.

“We were both looking at it, because it pulled out of the parking lot funny, and I just remember hearing gunshots so close and I turned around and it was all right there, the car that pulled off, pulled back up,” he said.

The only public clue is a white Honda Civic seen by the friend and other witnesses at the apartments that was spotted driving away.

News Center 7 obtained records front he regional dispatch center Tuesday that refereed to an arson related car fire in this wooded area in Jefferson township late Monday night.

Those records indicated that the license plate on the burned car was stolen, and deputies towed the vehicle to one of their nearby facilities.

Deputies told News enter 7 they do not know if this is the vehicle used in the fatal shooting.

Anyone who has any information on the shooting or the car involved is asked to contact police.

“If anybody out there saw anything or knows anything about this incident, we really need to hear from you” Streck said.
