1 dead after car hit by train in Preble County

PREBLE COUNTY — One person is dead after a crash involving a train in Preble County early Saturday.

Just before 3:30 a.m. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers were called to Barnetts Mill Road to reports of a serious crash, according to a media release.

An investigation found that Mason Roell, 19, of Camden, was traveling west on Barnetts Mill Road when they traveled across the railway crossing and were hit by a Norfolk Southern Train.

Roell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers were assisted by the Camden Somers Fire Department, Gasper Somers Fire Department and Camden Police Department.

We are working to learn why Roell was on the tracks and further information about the crash.
