1 dead, 3 injured including infant after crash in Clinton County

CLINTON COUNTY — A woman is dead and three others are injured after a crash in Clinton County Friday evening.

Just before 6:50 p.m. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers were called to U.S. 68 in Clinton County to reports of a crash.

An initial investigation found that a car driven by Kara Metz, 22, was traveling north on U.S. 68 and another car, driven by Thomas Cogan, 82, of Beavercreek, was traveling south.

Metz attempted to pass multiple vehicles at once when she hit Cogan’s car head-on, according to a media release.

Metz’s passenger, Heidi Wright, 20, of Beach City was pronounced dead at the scene.

Metz and her infant were taken from the scene by an air ambulance to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

Cogan was taken to an area hospital but later relayed to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by OSHP.
