UPDATE: Victims identified in fatal crash on US-42 in Warren County

WARREN COUNTY — One person is dead and another is in life-threatening condition after a crash on US-42 in Warren County.

Around 3 p.m. crews were called to North US-42 at Cedar Hill Road to reports of a crash involving a tractor and a semi-trailer.

Preliminary investigations showed the semi-truck hit the tractor in the rear and then drove off the side of the road, through the median, across the northbound lanes, and into a ditch.

The driver of the tractor, Estey Pringle, 63, of Waynesville, was thrown from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to a spokesperson with Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The driver of the semi-trailer, Edward Williams, 68, of Middletown sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to an area hospital by a medical helicopter.

The roadway remains closed in both directions, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Further details about the crash were not available.
