UPDATE: 17-year-old arrested after shooting, pursuit in Dayton; cruiser damaged in crash

DAYTON — Two people were arrested after shots fired into a house on Pleasant Avenue led to a pursuit that ended with a crash involving a police cruiser, according to Dayton police.

Officers went to the house in the 300 block of Pleasant around 4:40 a.m. after getting a report of shots being fired into the house.

A short time later, police said they found a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident and attempted to stop the 17-year-old driver. He didn’t stop and fled from police before crashing in the 400 block of South Smithville.

“The crash also involved one of our cruisers and a bystander’s car,” said Lt. Jason Hall with Dayton Police. “The initial investigation indicates that the juvenile suspect and victim are acquainted, and an argument had occurred between these individuals.”

Hall said the teen ended up firing a gun into the house during the argument.

The teen and adult woman were taken into custody after the crash and taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Both are out of the hospital.

The 17-year-old was taken to juvenile detention on suspicion of felonious assault, failure to comply and shooting a gun into a house.

The case will be presented to prosecutors for consideration of formal charges, Hall said.
