13-year-old flown to hospital after a rollover crash in Darke County

BUTLER TWP. — UPDATE @ 1:40 p.m. (July 26)

A 13-year-old boy was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight after a rollover crash at the intersection of state Route 726 and Otterbein-Ithaca Road Sunday around 8:30 a.m.

Investigators say a black 1994 Ford Ranger driven by 19-year-old Mark Kirby Jr., of New Madison, was traveling north on state Route 726 when the vehicle went off the side of the road, then overturned after the driver over-corrected.

Kirby was treated and released at the scene.

The condition of the 13-year-old was not released.

The crash is still under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

FIRST REPORT:

A child was injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash at state Route 726 and Otterbein-Ithaca Road in Butler Twp. around 8:30 a.m.

Dispatchers say the child was taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter.

Further details were not available regarding how old the child is and how severe injuries are.

No one else was reported injured in the crash.
