‘Just one DUI death is too many,’ Miami Twp Police to add enforcement of Ohio DUI laws

Miami Township Police Department (MTPD) will be conducting a Thanksgiving Blitz this holiday weekend, according to Sgt. James McCarty with MTPD.

MTPD plans to add enforcement of Ohio’s DUI laws during the Thanksgiving Blitz campaign beginning on Nov. 24th., through Nov. 28th., Sgt. McCarty said.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that 821 people in the U.S. died in alcohol-impaired crashes from 2016 to 2020 during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Sgt. McCarty said.

“Just one DUI death is too many,” Miami Township Police Department Sgt. James McCarty said. “By adding extra patrols, we can focus more attention on not only getting impaired drivers off the road, but also reducing the number of traffic crashes. There is zero tolerance for DUI.”
