“There is not a lot of people out right now and like I said he was thrown into a yard with a hill so people just didn’t see him,” Riverside Officer Steven Perfetti said Saturday.

Police said evidence indicates the vehicle was travelling northbound on Old Troy Pike at an unknown speed, but side mirror and headlight pieces were found at the scene.

“With as much damage that is left at the scene, they know they hit something,” Perfetti said.

The dog was found by passersby lying in the road, but the person was not initially found as they had been thrown into someone’s front yard.

Perfetti said the scene of the fatal hit and run was in a dark area without streetlights.

Police believe the vehicle was either a 2008 or 2009 GMC Acadia of unknown color, with damage reflecting the side mirror and headlight pieces left on scene.

Miami Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a reward to anyone that can provide any information that leads to solving this crime.
