NEW MIAMI — A man accused of jumping into a Butler County pond to avoid being arrested by deputies has been captured.
Early Thursday morning deputies were called to an alarm going off at a business in the 4000 block of Hamilton Trenton Road.
When they got on the scene, deputies said Mathias Jones, 40, ran from them before entering a pond in the area, according to a release.
Although it was suspected Jones made it out of the pond safely, deputies and members of the Emergency Response Services searched the water for hours as a precaution.
Friday, Jones was located in New Miami by detectives and arrested on a warrant of breaking and entering.
He is currently in custody at Butler County Jail.
