UPDATE: Shooting victim suffers life-threatening injuries; 1 in custody after high-speed pursuit on I-675

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 12:45 p.m.:

A shooting victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed into surgery at a Dayton-area hospital following the shooting on West Riverview Avenue Friday morning.

Investigators on the scene said the Dayton Police Bomb Squad has been called to the scene as a part of the investigation, however additional details were not provided.

One person is in custody in this investigation after a high-speed pursuit. The pursuit reached speeds over 100 mph on parts of I-75 and I-675 before it ended in Greene County in the northbound lanes of I-675 north of Wilmington Pike.

Connected to these investigations was a crash involving a Dayton police cruiser on the northbound I-75 ramp to U.S. 35. Officers told News Center 7 the officer was attempting to get ahead of the pursuit by getting on U.S. 35 when the cruiser overturned.

The shooting on West Riverview Avenue is the latest in a string of violence in Dayton since Thursday night, including four shootings that resulted in two deaths and two others seriously injured.

A high-speed pursuit reported after a shooting in Dayton has ended with one person in custody on northbound I-675 near Wilmington Pike, according to dispatch records.

The Ohio Department of Transportation reports the right lane is blocked on the highway for the investigation.

The pursuit started after officers were called to a shooting in the 600 block of West Riverview Avenue in Dayton. A victim was reportedly taken to the hospital, however their condition wasn’t immediately known.

The pursuit was reported on parts of southbound I-75, then northbound on I-675, with speeds over 100 mph, according to emergency scanner traffic.

FIRST REPORT

Multiple agencies were reportedly involved in a high-speed pursuit through parts of I-75 and I-675 after a third morning shooting in Dayton Friday morning.

Officers were called to the 600 block of West Riverview Avenue in Dayton around 10:30 a.m. after the shooting was reported.

Police reported they were involved in a pursuit of a possible suspect vehicle that started traveling on southbound I-75. Reports indicate the pursuit was reported last on NB I-675 near U.S. 35. Details about how the pursuit ended or if anyone was taken into custody were not immediately known.

The condition of the victim was also not immediately known.
