Man who died in Springfield shooting identified

SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE @3:40 p.m.

A man who died following a shooting Monday morning was found in a backseat of a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a Springfield police report.

The victim, identified as Nathan Zimmerman, 19, was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where he died.

No suspects have been named, according to the report.

A shooting victim transported to a Dayton hospital after they were found by police in Springfield Monday morning has died, Springfield police said.

Officers and medics were called to the area of East Euclid and Clifton avenues around 8:30 a.m. on reports of a shooting victim near the intersection.

Initial reports indicate the victim was found with at least one gunshot wound near their thigh. A medical helicopter was requested to meet medics at Springfield Regional Medical Center to transport the victim to Miami Valley Hospital.

Detectives conducted an investigation in the area of where the shooting victim was located, but the scene cleared around 11 a.m.
