UPDATE: 1 dead, 1 in critical condition after shooting in Dayton

DAYTON — UPDATE: @ 12 p.m.

One person is dead and another person is in critical condition after a shooting in Dayton early Wednesday morning.

Officers were dispatched around 12:48 a.m. to Kettering Health Dayton on the report of a shooting after a person arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound, according to Dayton police Lt. Steven Bauer.

When crews arrived on the scene, they learned that the 28-year-old man had been transported to the hospital by a private vehicle from the scene of the shooting at State Route 49 and Little Richmond Road.

When crews arrived on scene of the shooting, they located a 22-year-old woman in a vehicle who was pronounced deceased on scene.

Homicide detectives were requested to the scene to assist with the investigation.

The 28-year-old man remains in the hospital in critical condition.

INITIAL REPORT:

Dayton Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that happened on northbound state Route 49 early Wednesday morning.

Staff at Kettering Health Dayton called the police to report a man with a gunshot wound was dropped off at the hospital around 12:46 a.m., according to Montgomery County Regional dispatch.

Police at the hospital were told the man was found shot at the cross of state Route 49 and Little Richmond Road.

Dispatch tells us police went to the area and are investigating the scene. Soon after crews arrived, homicide detectives were called to the state route.

Further details have not been made available at this time.
