High school cheer coach, accused of sharing nude photo with squad members, is fired

WINCHESTER, Indiana (RANDOLPH COUNTY) — The varsity cheer coach for Monroe Central Jr./Sr. High School was fired Wednesday after the school district learned the coach has been accused of sharing a photo of a nude adult male with members of the school’s squad.

Hanna Gilmer, 28, of Muncie, was booked into the Randolph County Jail on on a $500 cash bond, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Capt. Tom Pullins said in a statement to media released Wednesday night.

Gilmer was still in jail as of 8:30 p.m., but was expected to be released on bond sometime tonight, according to a deputy at the jail.

An official with the school contacted the sheriff’s department just before noon Wednesday to report concerns “about a cheerleading coach that ws possible sharing inappropriate material with some members of her squad, Capt. Pullins said in the statement.

County sheriff’s investigators began looking into the concerns and found that the coach had shared a photo of a nude adult male with at least three members of the squad.

Investigators identified Gilmer as the coach.

The sheriff’s department has filed the following against Gilmer: three counts of felony dissemination of matter harmful to minors.

Monroe Central school district officials cooperated in full with the investigation and there are no concerns of any further danger to students at the school in regards to this matter, according to the sheriff’s department.

Gilmer could be sentenced to 6 months to 2 ½ years if convicted as charged, according to Indiana criminal code, which advises a one-year sentence.

The law allows a judge to reduce or convert the class of felony Gilmer is accused of committing to a Class A misdemeanor under certain circumstances, according to the sheriff’s department.

Wednesday afternoon, the Monroe Central school district posted a note to the district website announcing Gilmer’s firing, “effective immediately from her employment” at the junior/senior high school.

Winchester, Indiana, is a little more than an hour west of Dayton. Randolph County is on the border at Darke County, Ohio.
