Family argument led to fatal shooting in Dayton, police say; Alert issued for suspect

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 5:12 p.m. (Monday): An argument that ended in the shooting death of 24-year-old Kyron Cannady involved family and it apparently was over a financial issue, Dayton police Lt. Jason Hall said.

Police have named Perry Thompson as a person of interest in the homicide and they are looking for him, Hall said.

Police have elevated Thompson to a suspect, the lieutenant said late this afternoon. Thompson was last seen leaving the scene in a silver Chrysler 300.

A man was killed in a shooting on Salem Avenue late Sunday.

Kyron Cannady, 24, of Dayton was killed in the shooting around 11 p.m., according to Montgomery County Coroner Kent Harshbarger.

Police responded to the 1000 block of Salem Avenue before 11 p.m. Sunday after the shooting was reported.
