Faith Guffey, of Dayton, was shot and later died from her injuries in the shooting on Caho Street late Monday morning. Hours later, Ricky Renado Hill, 44, was arrested on preliminary charges of murder stemming from Guffey’s death.

Hill has been formally charged with two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, and having weapons while under disability, court records show. His bond was set at $1 million Thursday afternoon.

Witnesses told detectives Hill was angry with Guffey because she stole his cell phone last week, court documents obtained by News Center 7 in a public records request.

Guffey was on the front porch of a vacant house on Caho Street when Hill approached the house and fired multiple shots, hitting Guffey.

Guffey was taken to an area hospital but died later.

Hill remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail Thursday afternoon. Court records indicate Hill was convicted in a prior case for attempted murder.
