UPDATE @ 4:50 p.m.
A 17-year-old from Dayton accused of breaking into the Vandalia Range & Armory and stealing 42 firearms is charged as an adult.
Adrian Taylor was indicted today on 42 counts of grand theft of a firearm in connection to the Aug. 5, 2015, break-in at the Corporate Center Drive business, Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. announced.
A judge ordered Taylor’s case transferred to adult court on May 16. According to the prosecutor’s office, Taylor assaulted a Juvenile Justice Center staff member while he was in custody. He also has failed to register his address annually as a Tier I sex offender for a prior juvenile rape conviction, the prosecutor’s office said.
Taylor also was indicted for assault, breaking and entering, failure to verify and failure to notify.
Each of the grand theft countes include one-year gun specifications because the offense involved a firearm.
Two co-defendants have already been convicted. Dennis Lamar Taylor Jr., 20, was convicted March 23 on five counts of attempt to commit grand theft of a firearm and was sentenced to three years in prison, to be served at the same time as a 30-month prison sentence from a federal prosecution. Another co-defendant, Domenicque Allen, also was prosecuted in federal court, according to the prosecutor's office.
