Gunshot victim went door-to-door in search of help in Greenville

GREENVILLE — UPDATE @ 12:50 a.m. (March 22):

A man who was shot inside his Central Avenue residence Thursday night went door-to-door in search of help.

The shooting victim, whose name and condition was not available, was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

A man who lived a few doors down from the victim said he saw the man walk by, with one side of his sweatshirt bloody, according to our media partner the Early Bird Newspaper. The victim said he was shot after his father, armed with two guns, said he was going to kill him and opened fire, the neighbor told the newspaper.

Greenville police said they would release more information Friday morning.

UPDATE @ 8:45 p.m.

Two homes are taped off on Central Avenue, one where a shooting happened and one where the gunshot victim went for help.

The victim, whose name and age were not available, was flown to an area hospital for treatment.

Police are waiting for a search warrant to collect evidence and have blocked the 400 block of Central Avenue.

A man hit by shotgun fire tonight reportedly suffered injuries to his arm and neck.

Police and medics were called at 7:05 p.m. to the 400 block of Central Avenue, according to Greenville police dispatch.

Initial reports indicate the man was shot in the arm and also suffered a graze wound to the neck.

The shooter reportedly fled in a blue Chevrolet Tahoe.

No further information was immediately available.
